Gogunsan Connecting Road Landmark, Dandeung Bridge Deck Connection Completed

The bridge deck connection of Dandeung Bridge, Korea’s first suspension bridge with one tower connecting Gogunsan Road, was completed on July 15, 2014. In the Gogunsan Connecting Road Section 2 site, hoisting and installation had been carried out since May 2014 by manufacturing 26 blocks weighing a total of 2,500 tons to connect the 400m span length. In this construction of bridge deck connection, the light lifting gantry construction method, Daelim’s special technology, was used; thus saving cost. In addition, the construction method of atypical suspension bridge installation was improved through the construction.

The construction of the Gogunsan Road connection involves connecting the 8.77km section from Saemangeum Seawall to Gunsan Sinsi Island, Munyeo Island, Seonyu Island, and Jangja Island with a two-lane national highway. Constructed by Daelim, Dandeung Bridge is a landmark of Gogunsan Connecting Road and is slated to be installed with a sail-shaped structure 110m high with night lighting.
