Sillim Line Light Rail Transit Corporation Site Performs Light Rail Vehicle Quality Evaluation
and Unmanned Operation Performance Evaluation
Rail vehicles are installed on the Gyeongsan test line for system test.
Sillim Light Rail Transit Enterprise Corporation completed the manufacture of the first light rail vehicle group (group one) with rubber rail wheels to be inputted to the South Seoul LRT Sillim Line. The vehicles were inputted to the Gyeongsan test line for the unmanned operation performance test on May 25. The Civil Engineering Biz Division manufactured light rail vehicles for the first time. The completed group one vehicles consisted of three unmanned operation-mode vehicles, and the Division will manufacture 11 more groups of vehicles so that a total of 12 groups of vehicles will be operated.
After performing vehicle quality evaluation, the site plans to input the rail vehicles to the Gyeongsan test line and to carry out safety and performance verification tests of the unmanned operation system between the KRTCS train control system and K-AGT vehicles by December. The Sillim LRT project is a BTO (Build-Transfer-Operate) project for the 7.76km line connecting Yeoido Saet Gang, Silim, and Seoul National University. Upon completion of the line, South Seoul LRT Co., Ltd. — where a total of 14 companies in addition to Daelim participate — will operate, and income will be generated from the passenger fare. The line is scheduled to open in February 2022 following test operations.
